Statement by Director Shanel Y. Robinson on the passing of Sheriff Frank Provenzano
SOMERVILLE, NJ – “On behalf of the Somerset County Board of County Commissioners, I am saddened to hear of the passing of retired Somerset County Sheriff Frank Provenzano, and to honor him we will be flying Somerset County flags at half-mast.
“Frank served and protected the people of Somerset County for many years, first for five decades as a Bridgewater police officer retiring with the rank of Captain and then for 18 years and six terms as our Sheriff. As Sheriff, Frank launched a number of new initiatives, including K-9 Unit, Project Lifesaver, RX Drop-off, HERO for designated-drivers, Special Response Team, and the school resource officers at the Somerset County Vocational and Technical High School.
“We offer our deepest condolences to his loved ones.”
