Basking Ridge, NJ – Chabad of Somerset County successfully concluded a series of vibrant and joyous Chanukah celebrations this past December. The community came together to experience the warmth and spirit of the holiday through a diverse range of events.
Highlights of the Season:
- Grand Menorah Lighting & Gelt Drop: The festivities kicked off with a spectacular Grand Menorah Lighting and Gelt Drop in partnership with Bernards Township. Hundreds of residents gathered to witness the lighting of the giant outdoor Menorah and enjoyed a delightful rain of gelt (chocolate coins) from fire trucks.
- 2nd Annual Menorah Car Parade: The 2nd Annual Menorah Car Parade was a dazzling display of community spirit. Dozens of creatively decorated vehicles, including a Cybertruck adorned with a 6-foot Menorah and supersized dreidels, paraded through Somerset County, spreading light and joy throughout the region.
- Community Menorah Lightings: Throughout the holiday, Chabad hosted a series of community Menorah Lightings in various locations across Somerset County, including Basking Ridge, Bernardsville, and Warren. These events featured traditional candle lighting ceremonies, festive music, and delicious treats.
- Pre-Chanukah Women's Sip & Sign: The fun and creative Women's Sip & Sign event, allowed attendees to socialize and create their own Chanukah-themed artwork.
- Unique Celebrations: The season also included a special Chinese Dinner and Menorah Lighting at Chabad, offering a unique and festive twist on the traditional celebration.
