Bridgewater-Raritan High School Girls’ Cross-Country Team Is Our State Sectional Champion

The Bridgewater-Raritan High School girls’ cross-country team is a state sectional champion for the first time since 2006.

Bridgewater-Raritan won the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 state sectional championship on Saturday, November 1, at Greystone Park in Denville.

Bridgewater-Raritan claimed the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 state sectional title with a score of 56, while runner-up Westfield High School scored 89 points, and third-place Watchung Hills Regional High School ended with 99.

Kaitlyn Chu, the Somerset County champion this autumn, led Bridgewater-Raritan with a second-place finish in 18:45.98. Her teammate, DahliaAdams, was right behind in third with a 19:01.24.

Also finishing in the top 10 to contribute to the state sectional championship for Bridgewater-Raritan were Sofia Daniels, who came in eighth in 19:47.91, and Lana Guelich, who placed ninth in 19:51.68.

The individual champion was Emily Conway of Watchug Hills, who ran the race in 18:37.17.

Next up for Bridgewater-Raritan is the State Group Championships on Saturday, November 8, at Holmdel Park.

Dr. Adam Pyle, in his sixth season as head coach of Bridgewater-Raritan, was thrilled with the program’s first state sectional crown since 2006.

“We have snapped the 19-year streak,” Coach Pyle said. “This is my first title win, which makes it extra special.’’
