Somerset County’s 4-H kids showed exactly what “hands to larger service” looks like this fall. As part of the 4-H Ag Venture Days: Fall Harvest program, more than 30 youth rolled up their sleeves to create heartfelt gift bags for residents in local assisted living communities. They didn’t stop there. The group also decorated donation boxes and filled them with canned goods to help ease food insecurity for neighbors who need a little extra support.
By the end of the project, these young leaders crafted 33 gift bags and gathered 107 canned items for the community food bank.
It’s a reminder that kindness grows strong roots when it’s nurtured early.
