SCVTHS Student of the Month for May 2026 – Ava Del Rocco

 Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School (SCVTHS) is pleased to announce that Ava Del Rocco, a sophomore in the Cosmetology program, is the Student of the Month for May 2026. Ava is the daughter of Jamie and Rita Del Rocco of Raritan.SCVTHS faculty and staff recognize students every month who demonstrate a trait that makes them an asset to the school community. May’s theme is “Trustworthy” and students were nominated for the honor because their integrity and sense of responsibility make them a role model for their classmates. Ava was chosen from among the nominees because, as Physical Education instructor Maura Gillooly said, “she can always be counted on to follow through on her commitments and make the right choices—even when no one is watching.”Ava keeps busy when she is at SCVTHS. Because of her academic achievements, she has been inducted as a member of the National Technical Honor Society and has received the Principal’s Award. In addition to her studies, she is a three-sport athlete, taking the field and court as a member of the soccer, basketball, and softball teams. She was named the soccer team’s Rookie of the Year and received the Coaches' Award for basketball. Outside of school, Ava volunteers at her church, assisting with Vacation Bible School. In her down time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and playing sports.
