Police Activity:On March 9th, 2022 at 10:48pm, Raritan officers were dispatched to a residence for a report of a suicidal male. When officers arrived on scene they encountered a 35 year old Raritan resident in his bedroom. The male started to demand that the officers should shoot him and he picked up a box cutter. The male continued to state that he wanted to die. After several minutes, officers were able to de-escalate the situation and the male dropped the box cutter. The male agreed to be voluntarily transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
On March 12th, 2022 at 2:19pm, Raritan officers received a report of an erratic driver that had a struck a guardrail in Hillsborough and drove over a residential front lawn. Officers were able to locate the vehicle after being given a description, and conducted a motor vehicle stop. Subsequently, Robert Stashek, 53, of Raritan, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. Stashek was released pending a court date.
On March 13th, 2022 at 7:03pm, Raritan patrol officers were dispatched to the area of Route 28 and Vanderveer Road after receiving several reports of a male running around in traffic and attempting to get into moving cars. As one officer arrived on scene, Lerrenzo Davis ,40, of Somerset, immediately confronted the officer on scene and slammed his door shut as he was getting out of his patrol car. The officer then exited his car and Davis aggressively approached the officer again, attempting to grab his OC spray.
As the officer pushed Davis away, Davis again lunged at the officer and proceeded to place his hand on the officer’s holstered handgun, at which time the officer guided Davis to the ground. At this time, two additional Raritan officers arrived on scene and Davis was handcuffed after a struggle. One officer sustained injuries to his hands and knees as a result of the incident. Members of the Bridgewater Police Department assisted our police department at the scene. Davis was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and later charged with Simple Assault, Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest.
