Rummikub – Available Daily, 9:30 a.m. Play this fast-moving board game that requires a little bit of luck and the use of your strategic thinking skills. Playing Rummikub promotes social interaction, mental stimulation, and relaxation. Time flies while playing this game! **All levels of skill are welcome.**
Judgment Card Game – Mondays – Fridays, 1 – 2 p.m. Play this crowd-pleasing card game to challenge yourself and improve your thinking skills.
(Video) Chair Yoga – Mondays, 10 a.m. Increase bone density and improve strength, flexibility, and balance while immersed in a relaxing class. Expect a lot of gentle stretching to bring movement to joints and muscles. This class is open to all levels of skill and can be practiced while sitting in a chair. This class is perfect for relieving stress and helps gain an overall sense of well-being.
Word Puzzles and Mad Libs – Mondays and Thursdays, 1 – 2 p.m. Join fellow game lovers to play crossword puzzles, word searches, and fill-in-the-blanks, because who doesn’t love a good puzzle to solve, unscramble, and decode?
Knitting Club – Mondays, 2:30 – 4 p.m. Join fellow knitters for a fun afternoon of knitting, socializing, coffee, and more. There are benefits to knitting that go beyond crafting. Knitting is a form of self-care that stimulates mindfulness, cognition, and social interaction, and provides a fulfilling way to unwind while staying active. (Video) Take Control With Exercise – Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. Strengthen core muscles, improve flexibility and balance while boosting stamina during this gentle exercise program. **Exercises can be practiced while standing or sitting.**
Bocce Club – Tuesdays, 2:30 – 4 p.m. Learn how to play bocce ball, an entertaining yard game. There will be instructions about rules, scoring, and field setup. Playing this game is a great way to make friends and socialize. **This club will occur when weather permits.**
Fit and Flex With Rose – Thursdays, 11 a.m. Get fit while performing 30 minutes of low-impact exercise, using weights for 15 minutes, and then using resistance bands for 15 minutes. ** All levels of skill are welcome.**
Puzzle Club Led by Senior Center Clients – Wednesdays and Fridays, 1 – 2 p.m. Strike up a conversation, make new friends, and enjoy assembling puzzles with fellow senior center members. Choose from a wide variety of puzzles at the senior center.
Karaoke Club – Wednesdays, 2:30 – 4 p.m. Join fellow crooners for a fun karaoke hour! Pick your favorite song and belt it out. Singing can reduce blood pressure, improve cognitive function, and stimulate the mind and body. **Music, lyrics, and a microphone will be provided. No experience is necessary.**

September 5, 11 a.m. – End of Summer Luau Party With Janice Wojcik. Celebrate the end of summer at a Luau when the senior center will be decorated with a Hawaiian theme. Participants will receive a lei.
September 8, 11 a.m. – “Prostate Health and Cancer Prevention Presentation” With Ryan Moulton, Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Learn about the signs, symptoms, risk factors, and screening guidelines for prostate cancer, as well as the types of screening options and how the disease is diagnosed and treated.
September 10, 11 a.m. – Outdoor Stretching With Sandy. Relax and enjoy this stretching session while sitting and breathing in the fresh air. Stretching is the process of placing parts of the body into a position that will lengthen or elongate the muscles and soft tissue. **The class will take place only when the weather permits.**
September 11, 10 a.m. – The Somerset County Traveling Library. Find out what the library has to offer when the library visits the senior center. Browse a collection of books and check one out, return a book from any branch, register or renew a library card, or find out how to set up your phone or tablet.

Partake in a friendly game of Bingo, which is more than an exciting activity; researchers have found that playing Bingo provides multiple health benefits, such as promoting socialization, strengthening hand-eye coordination, and improving concentration, listening, and short-term memory skills.

Join the fun at the Picnic in the Park Celebration at Knob Hill Pavilion - Colonial Park in Somerset, along with the Montgomery and Quail Brook Senior Centers. September 24, 11 a.m. – Polka Party With Nancy. Enjoy this sound that originated in Central Europe, which has fun rhythms and energetic pulses! This toe-tapping music is for everyone who appreciates the exciting sounds of the trombone and keyboards. Participants will also learn the history of polka music and hear fun stories about popular polka songs.

Blood Pressure Screenings – First Monday of Every Month, 9:45 a.m. Get a FREE blood pressure screening from a Montgomery Township nurse who will be onsite at the senior wellness center. **No appointment is necessary.**
Intermediate Ukulele – Tuesdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. Play the uke with members of the Full Monty Uke Band in this peer-led class where members practice their favorite tunes and create programs for future performances. **To register and reserve a ukulele, call (609) 466-0846.**

MELT and Yoga With Alice – Mondays, 11 a.m. Eliminate stuck stress and joint pain by practicing MELT movements for joint stability, and 15 to 20 minutes of gentle Somatic Yoga (a focus on how movements feel). At the end of the class, participants will practice chair yoga to improve flexibility.
Yoga Chair Fusion With Debbi – Tuesdays, 10:15 a.m. Learn techniques to help gain flexibility and improve strength while immersing in a relaxing class. Expect lots of gentle stretching to bring movement to joints and muscles. Practicing yoga can help increase bone density, strengthen muscles, improve balance, relieve stress, and help participants achieve an overall sense of well-being. **These exercises can be practiced while standing or sitting and are accessible for all skill levels.**
Tai Chi With Herb – Wednesdays, 10 a.m. Reduce the risk of falls by practicing Tai Chi. In this class, participants will focus on shifting body weight through a series of light, controlled movements that flow rhythmically into one long gesture. Studies show that people who practice Tai Chi will reduce pain, fatigue, and stiffness, and help achieve a greater sense of well-being. **This program can be practiced while standing or sitting.**
Line Dancing – Thursdays, 11 a.m. Improve your cardiovascular and muscular strength, coordination, and balance while line dancing, which is so much fun it doesn’t even seem like exercise! Line dancing doesn’t require a partner, and it’s a great way to maintain your mental and physical health. **This class is suitable for participants with limited mobility. All levels of skill are welcome.**
Advanced Beginner Ukulele Lessons –Thursdays, 12:30 p.m. Hone the skills learned in the last class, such as playing basic chords and strumming techniques, but in this class, learn how to play songs with more challenging chord combinations. **To register and to reserve a ukulele, call (609) 466-0846.**

Learn how to recognize the risk factors for heart disease, breast cancer, and stroke. Participants will also learn about appropriate screenings and strategies for disease prevention.
September 4 and 18, 10 a.m. – Crochet With Mary. Practice the beautiful art of crocheting while socializing to keep your hands nimble, reduce blood pressure, and ease stress.
September 4 and 18 (10 a.m.), September 10 and 24 (11:15 a.m.) – Creative Wellness With Shirin Stave-Matais. Achieve calm, gain control, and learn meditative practices through imaginative, joyful, and social interaction in this class that combines wellness exercises with Hatha and Chair yoga. Participants will learn gestural, improvisational, and world dance forms, sound therapy, creative play, guided relaxation, and meditation techniques. **Participants of all skill levels are welcome. The class can be practiced while standing or sitting.**
September 5, 11 a.m. – “Be Prepared!” With Logan Whitehead, American Red Cross. Learn how to keep yourself safe and prepare your home for emergencies in case there is a hurricane or winter storm.

September 10, 10 - 11:30 a.m. – Vision Screenings by Project BEST, NJ Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CBVI). Get screened for distance, visual acuity, and glaucoma. Participants may receive instructions to follow up with a doctor or receive resources to help manage their eye health based on the results of their screening and insurance status. If necessary, Project BEST will assist eligible participants with registering for other CBVI services. **This screening will not provide participants with prescriptions for glasses. The space is limited (20-25). Preregistration is required. **
