BRIDGEWATER – Valentina Diaz of Dunellen, a Freshman in the Law and Public Safety program at Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School (SCVTHS), has been selected as Student of the Month for April 2025. Valentina is the daughter of Patricia Diaz of Dunellen.
Although she has just started her high school career, Valentina has already become involved in multiple activities at SCVTHS. She is a member of TEEEM (The Empathy Equality Entrepreneurship Mission), serves on Student Council, and volunteers in many school events, including the recent Campus Clean-up. She was also selected to be part of a team working on the development of a well-being app that was to be funded by a NJ Department of Education grant. In addition, Valentina has provided live Spanish/English translation during teleconferences with the non-profit TECHO, which partners with the SCVTHS TEEEM club, and was one of a select number of students awarded a TEEEM Travel Scholarship to travel to Honduras to work on a service project over Spring Break.
When she is not studying or engaged in extracurricular activities, Valentina dives competitively for the Princeton Tigers Aquatic Club. She is also active in her community, and has CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) certification. In her down-time, she enjoys listening to music, drawing, playing sports, and talking with friends and family.
Valentina hopes to one day pursue a career in the diplomatic service. She is passionate about international affairs, public service, and cross-cultural issues, and she believes the field offers her an opportunity to pursue these interests.
