BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (September 19, 2023) — Bridgewater Commons kicked off the “Chinese Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival,” a week of celebrations of Chinese culture and traditions on Saturday, September 16, with a live performance by Center for Cultural & Creative Exchange (CCCE).

In addition, through September 23, the mall’s first and second levels are adorned with 15 illuminated handmade Chinese lanterns up to 10 feet high in various forms from animals to dragons. Throughout the ages, the Chinese have used lanterns not only as sources of light or simple paper decoration, but they symbolize vitality, social status and good luck.

Meanwhile, at the center’s Community Hub, CCCE will host a fun lantern-making workshop for the entire family from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on September 23. Each kit will cost just a $10 donation to the organization, making the workshop accessible to all. A kit purchase also automatically enters participants into a raffle to win multiple prizes worth up to $100, to be drawn at the September 23 workshop.

Established in 2019, CCCE is a non-profit organization founded in New Jersey and its mission is twofold: to help preserve Chinese culture and heritage and to promote unity, harmony, and respect for all demographic groups within the community. Through sharing East Asian culture and art, CCCE provides several cultural events annually including The Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, Lunar Chinese New Year and many more.

Located along Interstate 287 at the intersections of Route 22 and Route 202/206, the

The complex also includes The Village at Bridgewater Commons, a unique, open-air shopping district with more than 10 retailers and food and beverage locations including LOFT, Maggiano’s Little Italy, Shake Shack, and Starbucks.
