Somerset County IT Further Secures County Sites by Updating Staff Emails to .Gov as of October 15

(For Immediate Release – Somerset County, NJ): As of Wednesday, October 15, 2025, all County Government employees will begin using a .gov email address – with the new email addresses now ending in @SomersetCountyNJ.gov.

Somerset County previously moved their governmental website to a .gov domain in March 2025, and will now be transitioning all staff emails to .gov to further enhance the security of all County web connections and to continue to serve the public in a credible, trustworthy, and secure fashion.

“.Gov accounts are specifically reserved for government entities in the United States,” said James Sawyer, Somerset County Director of Information Technology. “Shifting our website to .Gov earlier in the year helped us reduce the risk of fraudulent websites attempting to impersonate our official government site. This next transition step serves to further strengthen our security for both our staff, but also for our residents who interact with us virtually almost daily.”

Email addresses ending in @co.somerset.nj.us will be automatically redirected to the new @SomersetCountyNJ.gov addresses through June 2026. Update your digital address books to .gov today.
