Editorial: A New Chapter in How Raritan Connects

Raritan is entering a new era of accessibility and transparency—and it begins on January 6, 2026. On that date, Borough Council Meetings will no longer be broadcast on live television, marking the end of a long‑standing tradition many residents grew up with. Instead, the Borough is shifting to a fully YouTube‑based livestream system.

Some may see this as the closing of a familiar chapter, but it’s also the opening of a more flexible, modern one. In a world where most of us watch news, sports, and even family events on our phones or laptops, this move brings Raritan’s government communication in line with how people actually consume information today.

Residents will be able to watch meetings live on the Borough’s official YouTube channel, @RaritanBoroughAccount, or by visiting www.raritanboro.org and clicking the “Media” tab. Whether you’re at home, commuting, or traveling, the meeting is now wherever you are—no cable box required.

Importantly, meeting dates and times will still be posted on the Borough calendar, and livestream links will be shared in advance. This ensures that residents who want to stay engaged can do so without hunting for information.

The Borough is also reorganizing how past meetings are archived.
• Recordings from 2026 forward will live on the YouTube channel, making them easy to find and watch on any device.
• Videos from 2025 and earlier will remain available on the Borough website under the “Council Meeting Videos” tab.
