Residents Invited to Review Somerset County’s Electric Vehicle Study Findings on June 16
Somerset County will host the study’s final public meeting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, in conjunction with the Somerset County Planning Board meeting. The meeting will be held in person at the Somerset County Administration Building located at 20 Grove Street in Somerville.
“It is the goal of Somerset County to build a future not only shaped by data, but by the voices of our residents,” said Commissioner Sara Sooy, liaison to the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) Board of Trustees, as well as the NJTPA Secretary for the 2026-2027 term. “The feedback we have received throughout this process has been invaluable, and this study reflects a shared commitment to thoughtful planning for reliable transportation. Together, we can improve the everyday experience for the residents who live and work in Somerset County.”
The 12-month Electric Vehicle (EV) study, titled Powering Ahead for Somerset County, is funded by the NJTPA’s Subregional Studies Program. The County aims to create a roadmap for transitioning its fleet to electric vehicles, assess secondary EV charging corridors, and identify suitable charging locations on county-owned property.
Attendees will have the opportunity to review the study’s findings and recommendations. This includes the proposed public and County fleet EV charging locations, identified secondary EV charging corridors, the County fleet transition strategy, and implementation recommendations. Public input received throughout the study process has helped shape the final recommendations and priorities.
