Acting Public Safety Director Lloyd Fredericks and Officer in Charge Captain Vincent Wilson were honored to join this year’s Franklin Township Diwali celebration.

What is Diwali? Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is one of the most celebrated holidays in India and among Hindu, Sikh, Jain, and some Buddhist communities worldwide. The festival symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. Homes and temples are decorated with oil lamps, candles, and colorful rangoli designs, while families come together to exchange gifts, share sweets, and enjoy fireworks. Spiritually, Diwali honors Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya after defeating the demon king Ravana, reminding people of the power of hope, virtue, and renewal. This year, many in the Raritan area will celebrate with joy, community gatherings, and the warm glow of lights that unite families and friends.
