PRESS RELEASE - UPDATE TO PREVIOUS POST REGARDING ABANDONED DOGBOUND BROOK POLICE CHARGE PAIR WITH ANIMAL CRUELTY BOUND BROOK, N.J. – 

Bound Brook Police Department announces the arrest of Timisha Smith-Powell, age 27, Bound Brook, New Jersey & Yusan Powell, age 26, Bound Brook, New Jersey for Animal Cruelty and Disorderly Conduct. 

On Saturday, February 11, 2023, Bound Brook Police responded to the area of West Second St. and Hardy Ave. for the report of a stray dog. Upon arrival, officers were informed that a dark-colored vehicle (Ford Escape) pulled to the side of the road to let the dog loose. The investigation led by the Bound Brook Police Department’s Humane Law Enforcement Officer, Ptlm. Gatti, discovered that the defendants placed the dog in the rear of their vehicle before departing their residence. A short time later, the vehicle pulled to the side of the road and the rear passenger door was opened by an occupant of the vehicle. 

At this time the dog was led out of the vehicle before it pulled away. Both defendants were charged with the following criminal complaints: Animal CrueltyDisorderly Conduct Additionally, both defendants were charged with the following Borough Ordinance Violations:Dog Running at LargeDog Not on LeashFailure to Have Dog Registered Abandonment of Personal PropertyInterference with a Boro OfficialThe Bound Brook Police request anyone with information relating to this incident to contact the Bound Brook Police Department at 732-356-0800 or via the STOPit app.
