Washington, D.C., Mar. 3, 2025—The U.S. Forest Service is actively responding to multiple wildfires reported over the weekend in North Carolina and South Carolina following a Red Flag Warning issued across the region. Dry conditions and downed timber from past storms have elevated wildfire risk, and response teams are engaging in initial containment efforts at this time. The U.S. Forest Service is monitoring the situation hourly and will send additional personnel as needed. Sec. Rollins plans to visit the affected area on Friday, conditions permitting.
“The brave men and women of the U.S. Forest Service began responding immediately to the fires in the Carolinas,” said U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins. “We will ensure they have the resources, personnel, and support they need to swiftly put out the fires. They are working closely with state and local partners, and we are grateful for all the firefighters working on the frontlines.”
With rain expected midweek, conditions may improve. However, the U.S. Forest Service is fully prepared for an active fire season in the south and will continue to work closely with our partners to respond effectively.
