BRIDGEWATER – The National Honor Society (NHS) at Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School (SCVTHS) recently held an induction ceremony to welcome new members. Fourteen students met the qualifications for inclusion in the society, which recognizes dedication to the four pillars of the NHS - character, service, leadership, and scholarship.
The event is a student-run production. Preparations for the ceremony, including measuring students for their robes, organizing the processional and recessional, ushering guests to their seats, distributing programs, and providing refreshments were handled by current members Jackie Hernandez of Hillsborough, Erik McTernan of Bound Brook, Yvangalis Romero of Manville, and Daniella Jimenez of Bound Brook.
After being welcomed by NHS advisor Deborah Gichan and opening remarks from SCVTHS Principal Hector Montes, the students took over the ceremony.
