Sue Altman Announces Town Hall Tour of NJ-07
Sue Altman Announces Town Hall Tour of NJ-07
(Somerville, NJ) – Sue Altman, the Democratic nominee for New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District, has announced a district-wide town hall tour in the lead-up to this hyper-competitive Cook Political Report Toss-Up race.
The tour will include town halls in all 6 of NJ-07’s counties:
- Hunterdon County - Clinton, NJ
- September 16th - 6pm
- Morris County - Mt. Olive, NJ
- September 21st - 1pm
- Warren County - Hackettstown
- September 26th - 6pm
- Sussex County - TBA
- Somerset County - TBA
- Union County - TBA
Exact locations and other details will be provided prior to each event.
At each town hall, Sue plans to highlight the issues most important to voters across the district and then open the floor to members of the public for unscripted questions.
In contrast to her opponent, freshman Republican Congressman Tom Kean, Jr., Sue is running to show up and fight for voters by tackling corruption in both parties, protecting reproductive rights and fundamental freedoms, restoring the SALT deduction, and confronting the affordability crisis head-on.
Kean, Jr. has broken the tradition set by his predecessors, Democrat Tom Malinowski and Republican Leonard Lance, by not holding regular town halls open to the public.
Kean, Jr. has made it his brand to dodge reporters and avoid questions, which has been noted on countless occasions. He shields himself from direct engagement with his constituents – many of whom are curious about his endorsement of Donald Trump on the same day the former President was indicted by a jury on 34 felony charges and his refusal to support a bipartisan bill to protect IVF access from extremist state legislatures.
"Since we launched this campaign over 15 months ago, this has been a race about who shows up for New Jersey and who doesn't," Sue said. "For over 20 years, Tom Kean, Jr. has been shirking the basic responsibilities of political leadership - hiding from reporters, opponents, and his own constituents. His refusal to be the representative NJ-07 deserves has created a vacuum of leadership our campaign will fill."
